We're looking at having a BBQ for our next class outing.

Location: The most centralized park is Sembawang, or we could go to East Coast. The price of booking a pit in Sembawang is cheaper, but East Coast has more stuff to do

Date: Not fixed! :D Tell me when you're free ASAP! :D

Time: Barbeque will be preferably from 4pm to about 7pm, cause after 7pm you can't really tell if your food is cooked or not. We can do stuff before/after the barbeque or something!

Price: We're looking at a price of $12 per person, cheaper if more people turn up!

To fill in the travel history form, go to Student centre, the travel history document is stored under Latest News for students. Click that, and choose the junior high file.
To open the file, click "New item". And click "Save and close" to submit. When you have submitted the file, you should see your name appear in that section.

Meeting place: Harborfront MRT

Itinerary: Go for lunch at Vivo City or Harbourfront Centre, ride bikes, play games (volleyball etc.), dunk people into the water, anything and everything under the sun.

It has come to my attention that a new timetable has been allocated for the upcoming term. Click here to view it. I've edited it so it has a clearer view, as opposed to the .xml file uploaded on KM.

Should any of you want to save it onto your computer, I believe you know how to do so. For computer dummies, here's a step to step guide:

1. Click on the link above.
2. Right click the image.
3. Move your cursor over to "Save Picture As...".
4. Save the image under your desired file name, preferably in the .png format (it takes up lesser space compared to .bmp, .jpeg and .gif, and it doesn't have any colour loss).

Oh, I hope you've started with your homework. Mine's still suffocating in my bag.

Was wondering if any of you seen a camera cable in the classroom on 3rd March, Tuesday this week. It's black, with one side that fits into a USB hole, and the other side fits into a hole of a camera, relatively tiny. If anyone has seen it, please do inform Denise! NJC Book Drive 2009

The aim of this book drive is to collect books for children living in rural parts of Cambodia. The whole process will be from March - May. We have to work in groups of 5 and collect as many books as possible. The target for each group should be around 40 - 50 books. We also have to write a proposal on how we plan to collect the books.

CIP hours:

Planning: 10 hours

Collection: 10 - 40 hours depending on number of books

Sorting, listing, packing and sending the books: about 10 hours

Launch of NJC Recycling Competition 2009
Body:
In 2008's Recycling Outreach Programme, NJC raised a staggering 9179kg of paper products, and 77 987 can tabs, contributing to global and national efforts in environmental conservation! The paper products are given to SembCorp for recycling, while the can tabs are used to make prosthetic limbs for Cambodians hurt in landmines. Every 1 kg of can tabs you collect can be made into a pair of prosthetic limbs! This year, we hope for a 10% increase in recyclable paper and can tab collection! Do your part by simply passing your House Affiliate/Class Rep your collected paper (e.g. foolscap, used paper, newspapers) and can tabs, who would then pass it to us through your House Captains every Thursday from 4.30pm - 6pm at the Greenlink room located next to “Big Wok” in the canteen, till 22nd April 2009 (Earth Day). Individual collections are also welcome! :) The paper will be weighed and can tabs will be counted, all of which will be counted towards the NE Challenge Trophy!! SH103 is organizing a Leadership Camp for the student leaders of Zhenghua Primary and they need facilitators.

On 6th March 2009, Friday, at 4.30pm, a bus will take the facilitators, to Zhenghua Primary where the will lead in a Night Trek. This should end at 10pm and there will be transport back to NJC.

Oh 7th March 2009, Saturday, activities are in two sessions. The first starts at 7.30am and ends at 12pm and the next, is from 12 to 5.

This is an opportunity for you to work with your seniors and participate in CIP at
NJC :)

I have told them very nice things about you and they look forward to working with you.

I'm really tired. But I feel that the following has to be said sooner or later.

Ms. Selva is right. Our class is really unbonded. I just hope that everyone will forget the unhappiness caused by the Socratic Seminar last friday, and maybe we could organise some outings after assessment week? Or something along those lines that would help to increase our friendship and sense of [brother / sister]hood-liness. I'll just apologise to everyone who's unhappy because of the so-called "dominance" during the seminar, on the behalf of the guilty parties (and perhaps myself), and hopefully this will be a learning experience and an eye-opener to the current situation in class.

I've heard other classes's seminars being really successful, where everyone helped each other and they actually learnt something out of the entire assessment. Perhaps our class people are too conscious about grades and marks? Meanwhile, we should just put this mindset aside.

So, let's move on together as a class?

Recently, the class fund purchased a stack of quality photo paper to print all of our heads for our class deco poster (the one with the choochoo train with all our smiling faces) The photo paper came in a stack of 20 but only 5 were used. So, in other words, we have a remainder of 15 A4 photo paper left.

If you're interested in buying the photo paper, please do contact me- msn, sms, school etcetc.

1 for 90 cents, all for $12 :) Proceeds will go to class fund! Please buy & support the class fund! We're going broke (real) soon D: The paper is really useful. Can buy & make belated Vday cards or print project reports etc :D

Hello.

There's a lot of (chem) homework this weekend - and hell load of projects. It's time to cancle "slack" off your weekend plans. Well, to get it over with, they are as follows:

IS1102B: Physics worksheet on the Ideal Gas Model (a few pages).

IS1102A: A whole ton of worksheets which will probably be updated later (don't count on it). Also, do preparations for the Socratic Seminar on the 20th.

MI1101: Individual project and group video project - this one is horribly stressful. Due 25th February so start working on it now!

IH1101: Two projects, one on the spice of your choice, the other on a commodity on your choice. The spice project's due on the 25th; I'm not really sure about the commodity one.

HCL: Informal letter.

I have a feeling that I missed out a lot of stuff - yes, I'm paranoid. So do help with the list. Thank you.

Hello.

I've uploaded a new blogskin, and the codes were rather rushed.. It's more Livejournal-ish, and it looks pretty good IMO (who wouldn't say their work is good), so I hope you guys like it too. Initially I had intended for it to be a brighter skin (as contrast to the previous two grey-themed ones), but it turned out this way and I'm totally loving the tessellate! Anyway, BGM(s) will be added soon, by demand. Currently being considered are 'Love Story' by Taylor Swift and the OST of the Phantom of the Opera.

In case you weren't observant enough (change blindness, heh), the beaver on the right-hand side of the entry is different from the one that used to stare at you with those fixated red eyes. This one looks kinda dead, which pretty much reflects (most of) our moods.

Once again, I would like to appeal to all of you that we take a class photo together. Then I could put it somewhere on the blog for people to deface.. I mean, admire. We could possibly take it in class? Or somewhere you like, whatever your preference.

I'm prepared to see my super unglam face on Denise's work. Sorry for being a spoilsport in class today. Smile!

Hello.

Yes it's this time of the week again - weekends! The time we are supposed to have fun in the sun, go out, enjoy our youth, bond with our family, whatever you like and however you want to put it.

But no, we are forced to stay at home doing homework. In fact, it's about to rain - talk about irony. Anyway, here's you homework list:

LA1101: Complete a composition about a topic while you should have copied down?

MA1101: For those who haven't completed the Congruency/Similarity worksheet (or had done it in the worksheet itself), complete/re-copy it onto your writing pad (7 questions in total, including parts).

MA1102: Linear Inequalities worksheet tutorial questions.

IS1102: Physics worksheet on diffusion (7 questions in total, including parts). Chem worksheet on orbitals and electronic configuration.

HCL: Composition (2 topics). Ting Xie on monday, on CHAPTER TWO words. NOT 梦痕! Sorry for the wrong info!

IH1101: Group project on spices. Due on the 25th of February.

Anyway, I think some other homework has been left out. Apologies. Also, examinations are drawing nearer and nearer and I'm feeling really stressed out - you should too I guess. Good luck.

This is just an advise I hope all of you would heed. Please, please have a title for each and every single post you make, and sign of with your name after each entry! I hope that this would make the blog more organised and eliminates any identity crisis. I don't wish to have to give a title to every of your posts. Also, try not to post 354826396 times a day, ok? Consolidate all your posts into one single entry.

And as far as possible, do try to resize any overly-large pictures you wish to upload onto the blog. I don't mind resizing it for you if you really are an IT idiot but please make my life easier.

This is your long-awaited, yet unconfirmed, homework list over the weekends. Sorry it's kinda late, I'm lazy too I admit.

1. MA1102: Complete the entire Simultaneous Equations worksheet (I think), and the additional questions at the back, which you should probably have taken note of.

2. MA1101: Complete the entire (?) Congruency/Similarity worksheet (questions uncomfirmed).

3. Man & Ideas: Will get back to this later. Provide an insight of a video by YouTube user "QuarksAreStrange".

4. IS1102: Deflection of Particles in Electric Fields, complete the entire worksheet (5 questions in total, including parts). Atomic Structure Revision Exercise, complete the entire worksheet (3 questions in total, including parts). Isotopes Under Investigation, research on your assigned Isotope element.

5. IS1103: Project on Photosynthesis. Complete the bonus for the Chromatography worksheet (uncomfirmed).

Mini-Outing

Hello.

Organised a mini-outing last minute, before school ended. Teresa, Wei Jie, Qi Heng, Hun Quan and I (Daniel) went to Orchard to eat lunch-dinner at KFC.

Ok it's probably really lame we went all the way to Orchard just to eat KFC, but whatever. Here are the pictures we took. Yes I'm blogging this because Hun Quan wanted me to. :D

Class/HCL Fund

Hey everyone,

I know this is quite an inappropriate time (1.27am) to blog but I need a break from the killer weekend homework (which I'm currently chionging at the eleventh hour).

There has been some of you asking how come there is a need to pay money AGAIN for HCL notes + TB when the cost was supposed to be covered by the $15 you all gave me last week.

This is because our HCL class consists of friends from 302 & a portion of 301 (as not all of our classmates take HCL), so it would be kinda unfair to our non-HCL classmates if we were to directly take from class fund to pay for HCL materials. Therefore, for the entire year of 2009, there will be a separate fund for HCL. So class fund no longer funds HCL materials & both funds are two different entities to exist.

The separation of funds thingy did not struck me till last week after the collection of the $15. I'm really sorry for all the confusion caused! But I promise the other $15 will cover everything else other than Mother Tongue (I think). Yup. Sorry again!

4. Man & Ideas: Complete the task assigned to us (questions regarding the way information/knowledge is obtained).

Happy new year!

Paper cutting competition was really fun! Or at least I thought so anyway :D I hope all of you had an awesome time. This was what Jh301, group 2 did! (lets just assume we are group two since no one really bothered to number us)

I know it's out of shape and looks more like a rhino then a fish, but it's cute. If you make a closer inspection, you might realise that the pattern is impossible to cut cause the paper tears easily. So this was what we really did.

But it looks good! we should get creativity points!

Did anyone realise that our first lesson of the week which takes place next Weds happens to be Pe? I was planning to stuff myself like a pig /;

Hello,

Please be informed that everyone participating in the paper-cutting competition tomorrow are required to bring a pair of scissors. There will be 20 people participating; They are as follows:

1. The entire class committee, including the subject representatives (18 in total).
2. Denise and,
3. Esther.

And also, I'm feeling the need for a means of passing information to everyone in class through a more effective means. There are a few possible solutions, and you may voice out your opinion via the CBox. They are as follows;

1. I'm thinking of setting up a class relay system, where I will pass SMSes down to a few people, and they will pass it on to others, in a fixed order. It will be like a chain system, and the last person will have to forward me a message stating that they have received the SMS. Of course, I will need your handphone numbers, and you may discuss among yourselves who you want to be in front/behind of.

2. Alternatively, you can choose to check the blog on a regular basis, and by doing so, you not only save your own personal time but other's time as well. Not to mention, you need not waste money on unnecessary SMSes. Of course, I am aware that not everyone has access to the internet every single day, so I am not asking that you visit the blog every single day at every single moment, but rather two or three times a week will do.

Following this, I would also hope everyone would pass me their emails so that I could add them as authors to the blog. You may post events/notices/homework, spam posts will of course be deleted and their author rights revoked. Please do your part to make this an active community.
